Hell, James, that was so long ago I had to go back and look at that which I penned!
I do not understand that while the present system of 'representative democracy' is continued and whether we vote for candidates of a party or an independent, all candidates once elected are subsumed into the 'system' - ie they are 'bought' one way or another.
Until the people have the ultimate 'brake' of unfettered referendum and initiative, I for one am not prepared to trust any politician.
