I should imagine that,m in the present climate and with elections looming, the broadcasters would want the most Lefty journalist with TV/radio experience and availability they can find.
Similarly, such an individual would want maximum exposure at this time, as a damage limitation exercise on behalf of the Labour Party.
It's also possible that he is angling for a permanent job in broadcasting…
